Community Corps
Our mission is to provide young men and women
with Job Training, Education, Leadership &
Environmental awareness through performance of
community & conservation work projects. 
The Sequoia Community Corps (SCC)
is a project of Community Services & Employment
Training, Inc., a private nonprofit corporation,
serving Tulare County for the past 30 years. The
SCC has been successfully operating in Tulare,
Kings, and Kern Counties for the past 20 years
and has provided over 4,000 young adults with
valuable job training and educational opportunities.
In addition, the SCC assists local agencies and
businesses in meeting critical needs of the community
such as park development, construction of low-income
family housing, and litter abatement in local
recreation areas. Some prominent SCC programs
include:
- Environmental Awareness
- Recycling Activities
- Youthbuild
- Weatherization and Energy-Efficient

John Muir Charter School
John
Muir Charter School is a school like no other.
The school gives Sequoia Community Corps members
the opportunity to earn a high school diploma
while working with, the County of Tulare, the
City of Visalia and in our National Parks. Through
programs such as Youth Build, Job Corps and Workforce
Investment Act (WIA), corps members are doing
exciting and valuable work for the community.
Muir students learn inside and outside the box,
as you will learn inside and outside the classroom!
While your building a trail in a national park
or installing fencing at campsites.
If you are 16 to 25 years old and interested in
joining the Sequoia Community Corps, you can take
advantage of all these great opportunities:
· Earn a high school diploma while learning
with great teachers
· Receive individualized education that
integrates with your work
· Earn a paycheck doing exciting work while
learning and earning a diploma
· Learn vocational, life and leadership
skills
· Help improve your community
