Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The Department of Recycling (DOR), a branch of CSET’s Sequoia Community Corps (SCC), provides environmentally safe and convenient recycling services for Beverage Containers (CRV), Electronic Waste (E-Waste), and Waste Tires to families, communities, and businesses throughout Tulare and Kings Counties. The DOR also conducts Used Oil Certified Collection Center (CCC) signage reviews across both counties.

Corpsmembers service all containers and operate multiple buyback centers. Contact us to arrange no-cost CRV recycling containers for your next special event.

Electronic Waste

E-Waste is a common term for electronic products that have reached the end of their useful life. Recyclable e-waste items may include laptops, televisions, cell phones, and other electronic devices. Proper processing of e-waste helps reduce environmental risks and supports a cleaner, safer community.

CSET’s Sequoia Community Corps is an approved Universal Waste Electronic Devices (UWED) and Consumer Electronic Device (CED) Collector in California (ID#102584).

Beverage Container (CRV)

Beverage container recycling, also known as CRV, is one of the most common and widely recognized forms of recycling. However, approximately two-thirds of all beverage containers in the United States are still not recycled. To help reduce this number, the Department of Recycling (DOR) provides four conveniently located recycling centers throughout the county.

Did you know?

CRV stands for California Redemption Value, which refers to the deposit consumers pay when purchasing beverages and receive back when redeeming eligible containers at recycling centers.

In 2015, Californians purchased more than 23 billion CRV-eligible beverages in aluminum, glass, plastic, and bi-metal containers. Of those, more than 18.6 billion containers were recycled—helping conserve natural resources, save energy, extend landfill life, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • "Earth Day. Every Day.” Presentation

    • For Schools: The Sequoia Community Corps offers an “Earth Day. Every Day.” recycling presentation to local schools to raise their awareness of recycling. Through a fun, hands-on, and interactive presentation, students learn educational facts about the significance of recycling. Presentations are tailored to fit the age group of students. Topics of how to properly recycle beverage containers, E-Waste, used oil, and waste tires are commonly discussed.

  • "Earth Day. Every Day.” Booth

    • For Events: The Sequoia Community Corps offers a “Earth Day. Every Day.” booth available for special events. Event guests are encouraged to spin the "Wheel of Recycling" in order to win environment-friendly prizes. Corpsmembers are available to answer any questions and our very own Tom, the Recycling Specialist Raccoon, may make a special appearance!
