Environmental Cleanup Opportunities (ECO) Project

The Environmental Cleanup Opportunities (ECO) Project is a collaborative initiative between the City of Visalia, Workforce Investment Board of Tulare County, Visalia Employment Connection, and CSET's Sequoia Community Corps that helps address environmental challenges while creating meaningful opportunities for individuals experiencing barriers to employment.

Through the program, trainees participate in community beautification projects such as litter abatement, debris removal, and environmental restoration throughout the City of Visalia. In addition to improving public spaces, trainees receive workforce development services designed to prepare them for long-term employment success.

Before beginning hands-on training, trainees participate in employment readiness activities through the Visalia Employment Connection, where they develop essential workplace skills such as resume writing, interviewing, financial literacy, and career planning. Trainees then transition into paid, hands-on work experience with Sequoia Community Corps.

Who Can Be Referred?

The ECO Project is referral-based and serves adults who:

  • Reside in the City of Visalia and are currently experiencing homelessness or have experienced homelessness within the past 12 months

  • Are at least 18 years of age

  • Are interested in participating in community beautification and litter abatement projects

  • Possess documentation authorizing employment in the United States

  • Meet Selective Service requirements, if applicable

Refer a Participant

Community partners play a vital role in connecting eligible individuals to this opportunity. Partners may submit referrals using the button below. Once a referral is received, the individual will be screened for eligibility and contacted by the Visalia Employment Connection to schedule an orientation and enrollment appointment.

Together, we can create cleaner neighborhoods, stronger communities, and pathways to self-sufficiency for individuals seeking a fresh start.
