A One Of A Kind Education
The John Muir Charter School (JMCS) is a school like no other. Serving grades 9–12, JMCS supports young adults ages 18 to 26 by providing the opportunity to earn a high school diploma, develop valuable job skills, and complete meaningful work that benefits the community.
If you are between the ages of 18 and 26 and interested in attending JMCS or joining the Sequoia Community Corps, you can take advantage of these opportunities:
Earn a high school diploma with the support of highly qualified, credentialed teachers
Receive an individualized education plan that works alongside your job schedule
Earn a paycheck while working toward your diploma
Develop vocational, life, and leadership skills
Make a positive impact through hands-on community service projects
A Second Chance
Sequoia Community Corps offers an engaging and supportive alternative to traditional high school by combining hands-on vocational training with real-world, applicable skills. With small class sizes and a 1:15 staff-to-student ratio, instructors provide an interactive learning environment that promotes self-respect, collaboration, and a strong work ethic.
Students gain experience in fields such as construction, solar, urban forestry, recycling, and more, while earning valuable certifications, including OSHA 10-hour, CPR/First Aid, and equipment operation. The program also offers scholarships for continued education and advanced training.
Upon completion, the Corps to Career Program prepares students for success by providing résumé writing assistance, interview preparation, and job placement support to help them transition confidently into the workforce.
